A free online trivia buzzer for phones
Turn every player's phone into a lockout buzzer in about a minute. Share a room code, unpause, and the first buzz wins — decided on the server so it's the same race for everyone. No app, no hardware, no player sign-ups.
Joining a game?
Enter the room code your host shared to get your buzzer.
How the buzzer works
1. Create a room
Start a room from any browser. You get a short code and a QR code to put on the screen.
2. Players join on their phones
They scan or type the code, pick a name, and land on a full-screen buzzer. No app, no account.
3. Unpause and play
Unpause the buzzer, first buzz wins and locks the rest out, then award or deduct points and reset for the next question.
What you get in every buzzer room
True lockout buzzer
The first eligible buzz wins and every other buzzer locks instantly. The order behind it is kept, so you can move down the queue.
Fair, server-timed buzzes
Buzz order and reaction times are calculated on the server from the moment the buzzer was armed — not from whenever a phone happened to check in.
Pause, reset, and hotkeys
Pause with the ` key and reset with R, so you can run the whole night without leaving the board.
Optional anti-spam lockout
Turn on anti-spam and early mashers lock their own buzzer for a fraction of a second instead of gaining an edge.
Wrong-answer re-buzz
Let players who missed or were passed buzz back in; they join the queue behind anyone who was already waiting.
Scores, wagers, and a final round
Track every player's score, run Daily-Double style wagers, and finish with a wagered final question and podium.
Great for classrooms, pub quizzes, and game nights
Classroom review games
Teachers can run a review round with the class buzzing in on their own devices, using a saved board or questions read aloud.
Pub and bar trivia
Put the QR code on the screen, let teams join, and keep the scoring on one host screen all night.
Family and party games
Play a Jeopardy-style board you built or copied from the public library, complete with a wagered final question.
Trivia buzzer FAQ
How does the online trivia buzzer work?
The host creates a room and shares a short code or QR code. Players open the link on their phone, enter a name, and get a full-screen buzzer. When the host unpauses the buzzer, the first eligible buzz is decided on the server using one shared timestamp, so nobody wins just because their phone polled sooner.
Do players need an app or an account?
No. Players join from any phone or laptop browser with the room code — no download and no sign-up. Only the host needs an account to save boards.
Is the trivia buzzer free?
Yes. Hosting buzzer rooms is free, and a free account can keep up to 3 saved boards. Paid Pro plans exist for hosts who want more boards.
How many players can buzz in at once?
Rooms are built for a full trivia night — everyone in the waiting room gets their own buzzer, and the lockout applies to all of them at once.
Can I use it as a buzzer only, without a trivia board?
Yes. Create a room, share the code, and use the buzzer with your own questions read aloud. Boards are optional.
What stops players from spamming the buzzer?
Anti-spam is an optional room setting: a player who hits the buzzer while it's locked has their own buzzer disabled for a fraction of a second, so mashing gains nothing.
Ready to hear the first buzz?
Create a room, share the code, and start playing. Your first board is already waiting in your library.
